About the project
The refurbishment of Østbanehallen included stripping the hall of most of the old furnishings and building modern technical standards from scratch. The hall was completely stripped of all shops, stairways and lifts etc. Existing floors were removed and new technical rooms were built underneath the current flooring level, before AF started working on building new shops and restaurants.

A historical building
The new Østbanehallen includes six new restaurants, a 500 m2 food court and the Oslo tourist office. Alongside serving as a new and modern meeting point for various needs, the new Østbanehallen pays respect to the history and classic architecture of the building.
The goal is for Ø to become a year-round market for all of Oslo to enjoy and proudly call the gateway to the city for its many visitors.
