AF has refurbished and remodelled 349 student flats in Kringsjå in Oslo for SIO. Everything has been stripped down and rebuilt with a new, modern look.

Project details
SiO is the student union for 25 educational institutes in Oslo and Akershus.
The buildings were built when Kringsjå Student Village was established in 1969 and the project is part of SIO's strategy for upgrading the ageing buildings in Kringsjå. The student housing in Olav M. Troviksvei 8-10 was out of date and not very attractive to students. AF Byggfornyelse won the contract to give both the flats and facades a real makeover.
The project is one of the first in AF in which the LEAN planning tool has been used and each floor in turn is now being modernised to meet current standards.
As well as the flats being more modern, the project will increase their number, which will rise by 114 compared with the current number.
