New helicopter base in Lakselv
AF was chosen by the Norwegian Defence Estates Agency as contractor for the helicopter base project at Lakselv Airport, Banak.

About the project
As part of the Norwegian Armed Forces’ national commission, 16 new rescue helicopters shall be in place by 2020. The new helicopter base at Banak is similar to the bases previously built by AF at Sola and Ørland.

New building for new helicopters
The agreement includes the construction of a new hangar for 330 Squadron at Lakselv Airport, Banak. The project also includes outdoor facilities on landside and airside. Landside work primarily comprises a new access road and parking areas, while airside work includes three helicopter stands. New buildings with a gross area of approx. 6,000 m² will be constructed, in addition to around 15,000 m² of outdoor facilities.
Replacing the Sea-King
The old Sea-King helicopters have been used by the rescue services since 1973 and shall now be replaced by new helicopters from 2018. Up to 2020, Norway will receive 16 new rescue helicopters which will be stationed at Rygge, Sola, Florø, Ørland, Bodø and Banak.
The new facilities will be adapted to the new helicopter fleet, and will comprise helicopter docks, workshops, offices, administration and facilities for on-site duty personnel.
