Soknedal
New road alignment and tunnel
From Vindåsliene, the new E6 will be constructed west of Sokna and the current alignment. From north of Fossum bridge, the new E6 will follow the current alignment towards the town centre. In Soknedal, the road will be constructed outside the town centre and down towards Sokna. South of the town centre, a two-level intersection will be built with exit roads to Soknedal. North of the town centre, the new E6 will cross a new bridge over Sokna before the road continues in a 3.6 km long tunnel. The tunnel will emerge 500–600 metres south of Korporalsbrua.
Locally in Soknedal town centre, traffic safety and environmental conditions will be significantly better with this road development. The development will also offer vastly improved traffic safety and navigability along the adjoining sections of road on this project.
The present E6 highway will be retained for local traffic, plus pedestrian and cycle traffic. The new E6 will be around 1 km shorter than the present E6.
