The project involves extensive renovations and expansions, including the delivery of a new district cooling center, the establishment of free cooling from the Svartån River, and adjustments to redundant heating systems. The goal of these measures is to ensure that the hospital has sufficient cooling capacity and to implement a sustainable cooling solution. By utilizing the natural cooling from the Svartån River, Region Örebro Län aims to reduce energy consumption and contribute to a more environmentally friendly operation.

“We look forward to collaborating with Region Örebro Län on this technically demanding and significant project, which will improve the hospital’s capacity and ensure a stable and efficient district cooling supply for the future,” says Bård Frydenlund, Executive Vice President for Sweden at AF Gruppen.

Construction is planned to start in January 2025, with the project expected to be completed by November 2026.
