HMB was awarded the commission following a public procurement process. The client is Flen Kommunfastigheter and the developer is Sveafastigheter. The commission comprises a turnkey contract.

The Gårdsjö Strand retirement home will encompass 70 apartments and seven care wings, each with living room, dining room, kitchen and common areas. The building will be certified in compliance with the Miljöbyggnad Silver standard and prepared for roof-mounted solar panels.

The retirement home is being constructed in central Flen, adjacent to the district of Gårdsjön, where 200 new homes are also planned.

“We are pleased to be able to contribute to a socially beneficial project that is very important for the local community. We are also looking forward to our renewed collaboration with Sveafastigheter, with which HMB has previously collaborated on housing development projects,” says Bård Frydenlund, EVP and Managing Director of AF Gruppen Sweden.

The construction of Gårdsjö Strand is expected to start in the summer of 2023 with residents expected to be able to move in by the summer of 2025.
