The client is Gävle Parkeringsservice AB. The value of the contract is SEK 102 million excluding VAT, and the project will be delivered on a turnkey basis.

The “Mobilitetshus Magasinet” building will comprise six storeys with a total area of 14,000 m2, and will accommodate around 400 car parking spaces, charging points for electric cars, bicycle storage and the ability for e-bikes to recharge.

The car park will be built with a focus on sustainability and will be self-sufficient in relation to its electricity needs. As car ownership decreases, it will be possible to convert the building for other uses.

The project has a high level of ambition in design terms since it is being built in the town’s historical warehouse district in the old port area, known as “Magasinsområdet”. The façade will be clad with wood, while also featuring elements of brick, glass and metal mesh.

“We are delighted to be given the opportunity to contribute to the development of these classic industrial settings in the heart of Gävle,” says Bård Konrad Frydenlund, EVP of AF Gruppen Sweden.

HMB is also involved in the development of the new “Godisfabriken” neighbourhood (named after the old sweet factory in the area) on the eastern side of Gävle’s town centre.
